Moritz Aebersold

Moritz Aebersold, CEO, Contura Consulting AG

Moritz Aebersold is the owner and CEO of Contura Consulting AG in Basel (CH). The business economist has a high level of strategic competence and is a renowned expert for the worldwide natural and organic cosmetics market. He has been closely engaged in the international organic cosmetics trade and has helped to establish its successful development since the mid 90s, through many years as director in the Weleda Group executive board, and his work in industry associations, including the position as founding president of NATRUE. Since 2013, Moritz Aebersold and his consulting company Contura Consulting AG provide business and management consulting, he also works as a professional non-executive director in supervisory boards. A special focus is aimed at the strategy and business development in the value-oriented pharmaceutical, cosmetics and consumer goods industry in Europe, Asia and the United States.

Elfriede Dambacher

Elfriede Dambacher, Owner naturkosmetik konzepte

Elfriede Dambacher has been active in the natural and organic cosmetics market for most of her professional career. In 1984, the business economist and chemist founded the first specialty store for natural cosmetics in Berlin. She has profound managerial experience in the distribution of natural cosmetics and established several natural cosmetic trade concepts. In 2003, she launched the consulting company naturkosmetik konzepte and has acted as an independent consultant for the natural cosmetics industry. Elfriede Dambacher is renowned beyond the German borders as a trade expert. In 2009, she founded the publishing company naturkosmetik verlag, of which she was managing director until late 2016.
In 2006, in cooperation with leading market research companies, she developed a market research tool for the natural cosmetics industry that today is considered standard.

Through her consulting company naturkosmetik konzepte, she publishes current market research studies, e.g. the Naturkosmetik Branchenmonitor and the annual Naturkosmetik Jahresreport. Elfriede Dambacher served as program chairwoman of the annual Natural Cosmetics Conference in Berlin for eleven years. In 2015, her natural cosmetics guide „Ratgeber NATURKOSMETIK“ was published by the Herbig Verlag in Munich. The guide includes a specifically developed index of naturalness to simplify the transition to organic cosmetics for consumers.

Dr. Ulrike Eberle, Scientist, Owner corsus – corporate sustainability

Ulrike Eberle is a scientist (biology and chemistry). She graduated in home economics and nutritional sciences from the University of Gießen on the topic of „The sustainability label – an instrument for implementing sustainable development?“ From 1994 until 2008, she worked in a leading position at the Okö-Institute for 14 years. In 2008, she founded corsus – corporate sustainability, and has managed the company since 2013 in cooperation with Dr. Anke Butscher and Dirk Pieper. Since 2015, she is manager of the research department at the Center for Sustainable Management ZNU at the University Witten/Herdecke. She is and has been a member of several committees, e.g. the scientific advisory board for consumer and nutritional politics of the former Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV). Ulrike Eberle has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Food Life Cycle Assessment Conferences since 2011, serving as Chairwoman of the committee from 2018 to 2020. She is an expert on sustainability assessment, sustainability strategies and sustainable product development. She counsels several companies, the European Commission and national politics and manages large transdisciplinary research projects.

Dr. Thomas J. F. Goreau, PhD, President, Global Coral Reef Alliance

Thomas J.F. Goreau, a biogeochemist, was educated in Jamaican schools and holds degrees from MIT, Caltech, and Harvard. He is President and founder of The Global Coral Reef Alliance, he has dived on coral reefs across the Caribbean, Pacific, Indian Ocean and South-East Asia for more than 60 years. He has published more than 150 papers and written and edited books on scientific photography, marine ecosystem restoration, soil fertility restoration and climate stabilization. He is co-inventor of the HotSpot method for predicting coral bleaching from satellite data and of the Biorock method for regenerating marine ecosystems and eroding coastlines.

Dr. Erik Maier, Junior Professor Retail- and Multi-Channel-Management

Erik Maier teaches and researches E-commerce and digital marketing at the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management. He gained experience in retail at McKinsey & Company (consulting stationary retail) Home24 (E-commerce marketing). He studied at the University of Cambridge and the Technical University Dresden and obtained his doctorate at ESCP Europe. His research has been published globally (e.g. Int. Journal of Electronic Commerce). Erik Maier authors articles on Handels.blog about digital retail topics and is a commentator in the media (e.g. Tagesschau, RTL aktuell, Die Welt).

Melanie Schriever, Owner & Managing Director Mixed Greens

Melanie Schriever is the owner and managing director of Mixed Greens - Sales & Consulting. She has been working in the organic food and organic cosmetics industry for more than 19 years and her vast professional experience spans from purchasing, distribution, retail and personnel management to marketing both in the US and DACH-countries. From 2000-2009, she had purchasing responsibilities, acted as manager of an organic food market and held a managerial position at Whole Foods Market on the US West Coast. In the area of distribution she then worked for the Broker New Connections Marketing from San Francisco to Oregon. After her return to Germany, Melanie Schriever worked in the organic cosmetics purchasing department at the drugstore chain Iwan Budnikowsky Hamburg and as key account manager for C Faces Handelsgesellschaft oHG. Since founding her company Mixed Greens - Sales & Consulting in 2018, Melanie Schriever uses her comprehensive expertise as a consultant for renowned organic cosmetics companies, also offering support for their distribution strategies.

Carolina E. Schweig, graduate engineer paper and plastics processing, owner C.E.Schweig Packaging-Materials-Engineering

Even during her studies, Carolina Schweig discovered the many facets of packaging technology – amongst them technology, economy and marketing. Many years of professional experience at companies like Beiersdorf, Colgate Palmolive and Unilever both in Europe and abroad taught her the urgency of sustainable solutions for the packaging industry. Therefore the main focus of her packaging consultancy C.E. Schweig, established in 1997, is “sustainability” based on profound packaging know-how – from engineering to filling and marketing.

Aras Azadian, CEO, Chairman and Co-Founder Avicanna

Utilizing his extensive senior management experience in both financial and bio-technology sectors, Aras co-founded Avicanna with the vision of establishing a bio-pharmaceutical company with a strict focus on medical and pharmaceutical applications of cannabinoids. His expertise in corporate development coupled with his executive experience in the oncology industry have been integral to Avicanna’s thought leadership pertaining to R&D and clinical development. Since 2016, Aras has successfully led a team of executives, scientists and medical professionals across several countries with the vision of vertical integration and a strong company focus on quality controls, scientific vigor and competitive advantages. Anna Baltruschat, Co-Founder Afrolocke UG

Anna Baltruschat is founder and manager of the organic cosmetics brand Afrolocke. The start-up based in Stuttgart, Germany, specializes in hair care for natural curls. Her vision: That one day, certified organic cosmetics for afro-textured curls and kinky hair will be a staple in beauty retail stores. With her products, Anna Baltruschat brings more diversity to beauty stores. The products have become popular among curly heads.

Peter Brommenschenkel, CEO Brommenschenkel GmbH Peter Brommenschenkel, CEO Brommenschenkel GmbH

Peter Brommenschenkel became self-employed at the age of 21 with a drugstore in a suburb of Trier. In 1988, he expanded with an organic/natural food concept in the city of Trier. Today the Brommenschenkel GmbH owns ten perfumeries in Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse and the Saarland, one naturelBeauty, a specialist in natural cosmetics, two BioGate organic stores, a Romantik Hotel and several gastronomy concepts. For the year 2019, the opening of another naturelBeauty store and a vegetarian-vegan restaurant is planned.

Marie Delaperrière, Founder & Owner Unverpackt

The food store Unverpackt, founded in February 2014 by Marie Delaperrière, was the first zero waste store in Germany that completely dispensed with disposable packaging. Its aim is to avoid packaging and food waste and to motivate consumers to question their own consumption habits.
How does it work? Customers bring their own containers, these are weighed to determine the tare, then filled with the desired amount of product. Thus, Unverpackt offers alternative consumption and promotes the reduction of waste.
The team in Kiel, Germany, has started a movement across Germany: By sharing experience and acting as consultants, they have already inspired several store openings in Germany (today, there are more than 100 of these shops), but also beyond the German borders. Shopping without packacking shall establish itself as an alternative to the conventional supermarket and promote a change of mindset in society about buying behavior.
In addition, in May 2016, Marie Delaperrière established the „Zero Waste Kiel“ association with the goal of engaging consumers to focus on waste reduction in private households, companies or institutions, reducing the amount of waste and raising awareness of the possibility of a waste-free life.
„We stand for conscious and decelerated shopping and want to re-introduce the consumers to the food itself. We want to support and advise our customers and are happy to interact with people who share our zero waste-philosophy.“

Harald Dittmar, Managing Director BDIH

Harald Dittmar has been an attorney at law since 1988. He is co-founder of the corporate law firm „Gesper, Hermes & Partner, Rechtsanwälte, Wirtschaftsprüfer, Steuerberater“, based in Mannheim, Germany, and acted as senior partner until 2008. His key activities are food law, cosmetics law and competition law, in addition he is a specialist lawyer for labor law.
Harald Dittmar continued working as a lawyer since 2008, as owner of the law firm „Dittmar Rechtsanwälte“ in Mannheim, Germany, focusing on consulting and representation of companies in the segments food, cosmetics and health products.
Since 1992, he is managing director of the BDIH, since 2008 managing director of the certification and control body IONC GmbH. Harald Dittmar is a member of the board of directors of COSMOS-standard AISBL in Brussels, acting as chairman since 2017. He is a board member of the EHPM (European Federation of Associations of Health Product Manufacturers) in Brussels.

Oliver Gothe, Managing Director Fair Squared GmbH

In 1988, at the age of 19, Oliver Gothe opened a condom store in Cologne, turning it into Europe´s largest condom manufacturer condomi. Following the sale of condomi, he developed the first condoms made from fair trade latex with his new company „lebenslust“ in 2006 and established the first certified supply chain for fairly traded natural rubber.
Since 2012, his company Fair Squared has been distributing vegan organic cosmetics made from fair trade ingredients across Europe. Oliver Gothe owns several brands and registered designs on the topic of zero waste and plastic-free packaging. He is engaged in several charitable institutions. Since 2002, he is also a council member of the AIDS Hilfe Köln e.V. and chairman of the Fair Rubber association.

Dr. Franziska Krüger, Research Associate, Federal Environmental Agency, Dessau, Germany

Dr. Franziska Krüger is a research associate at the Federal Environmental Agency based in Dessau, Germany. She has been working in the product responsibility department since December 2009. As of December 2013, her area of responsibility includes plastic recycling and the plastic processing industry.

Michael Radau, CEO SuperBioMarkt AG

Michael Radau, CEO of SuperBioMarkt AG, has been operating in the eco retail trade since the 1980s. In the 1990s, he developed the SuperBioMarkt concept, which includes an organic cosmetics department. The company has since been growing consistently. Approximately 600 employees are working for the SuperBioMarkt at 25 locations in NRW and Lower Saxony. Today, it is the oldest, still active organic retail enterprise. Michael Radau holds various honorary posts, including the position of Vice President of the HDE.

Dr. Michael Scriba
Attorney at Law / Advisor to the Board of Directors of mtm plastics GmbH (Member of the Borealis Group)

Michael Scriba is advisor to the CES (Circular Economy Solutions) Team at Borealis Headquarters in Vienna, which focuses on developing and implementing a circularity strategy for one of the largest polyolefin producers. He also advises the management of mtm plastics, which is one of the most important players in the European mixed polyolefins recycling market. As MD of mtm plastics (Niedergebra, Germany) until the end of 2018, he was responsible for raw material supplies, marketing, PR, legal matters, international affairs and group strategy.

Scriba headed the German Plastics Recyclers Association (BVSE - FV Kunststoffrecycling) for several years before he joined the Management Committee of Plastics Recyclers Europe and set up a mixed plastics recyclers working group within PRE in January 2011. In the industry since 1993, he has published numerous papers on plastics collection, sorting and recycling and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences on this issue.

Dr. Mark Smith, Director General NATRUE

Role: Running of NATRUE, lead role in all political, regulatory and scientific affairs of the association - advocacy, research and label.
Mark graduated with a M.Chem (Hons.) degree in chemistry and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. between chemistry and genetics. Before joining NATRUE in June 2014, he extended his research career with two positions covering biotechnology (Leeds, UK) and the biomedical/pharmaceutical sector (Montréal, Canada). Mark is a British national who has more than five years' experience in Scientific Management, and during the last ten years he has been involved in the successful coordination of strategic and collaborative interdisciplinary projects via academic departmental and international research. Mark became Director in July 2016.

Susanne Stoll, Editor-in-Chief of the German trade magazine INSIDE beauty

Following her studies of German language and literature as well as Ethnology, Susanne Stoll began her work in the cosmetics and perfumery trade in 1987. Her experience includes 20 years as editor for a German trade magazine publishing house, 10 years as editor-in-chief of a perfumery trade magazine.
In October 2007, Susanne Stoll joined the newly founded redspa media GmbH in Baden-Baden, Germany.
Susanne Stoll developed the successful trade magazine INSIDE beauty as editor-in-chief and holds the position of editor-in-chief of INSIDE beauty Swiss-Edition. The trade magazine aims to support beauty professionals with many insider tips and to provide compact information to all those active in retail and the industry.

Ramon Stroink, Managing Director DACH markets Weleda

Born in the Netherlands, Ramon Stroink has been working at Weleda for 14 years and holds the position of Managing Director DACH markets. During the Weleda crisis in 2012, aside from the organic cosmetics segment, Stroink was also responsible for the medicine segment in the DACH countries and made a significant contribution to the restructuring and the following turnaround of the company. He was also the first who, in the entire history of the long-established company founded in 1921, brought the brand on TV with a new organic cosmetics campaign. Since 2015, he has gradually introduced the brand to food retailing. He is a board member of the IKW and a member of the advisory board of the BIOFACH Congress.

Sebastian Wölke, Founder & Director NO PLANET B Limited

Sebastian Wölke founded NO PLANET B Limited in July 2017. All NO PLANET B products are certified natural skincare by NATRUE and vegan. The brand’s mission is to celebrate things we consider worthless – whether it’s stuff we pay little attention to, like weeds, or resources we simply don’t consider valuable, like plastic waste. Sebastian Wölke has a BA in International Business from East Carolina University, USA and Accadis School of International Business, Bad Homburg. He is a GS1 Certified Category Manager. From 2004-2009, Wölke worked for Unilever in various Marketing and Sales roles for brands like Dove and Axe. He then continued his career at dm-drogerie markt Germany as the Head of Division Central Buying & Marketing for Oral Care, Shaving & Male Grooming from 2010-2014. Sebastian Wölke is the founder of Kunden/Impulse Consulting and Business Advisor to POSPulse Berlin.

Patrick Zimmermann, Director Global Marketing & Sales, FKuR Kunststoff GmbH, Germany

Patrick Zimmermann studied engineering at the technical college Aachen with the focus on energy and environmental protection technology and specializing in waste treatment and waste management of hazardous and nuclear substances. In addition, he completed postgraduate studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg, graduating with a diploma in industrial engineering with the focus on risk management.

In the past 16 years, Patrick Zimmermann was significantly involved in the global market development and the marketing of the compostable and biodegradable product portfolio at FKuR. He also holds the responsibility for the marketing of the FKuR distribution portfolio, e.g. Green PE or Bio PA. Within the framework of the global marketing strategy of FKuR, he was also responsible for the development of the US subsidiary. Since August 2015, he is also acting as managing director of FKuR Polymers GmbH, a manufacturer of customer-specific Polyolefin- and TPE compounds.

Janine Steeger is a journalist and moderator and for many years worked for several TV-channels. For seven years, as a successor to Markus Lanz, she hosted the RTL format „Explosiv“. She then quit her well-paying and secure job to focus on the topics close to her heart, sustainability and environmental protection. As Green Janine she presents events and as a speaker promotes the FUTURELIFESTYLE. In 2018, she launched her newest baby – futurewoman.de
